    Tour Plan

    DAY 1

Once landed at Muscat International Airport, you will be transferred to the hotel. Time at leisure for extra activities. Overnight at the hotel.

    DAY 2

    Muscat – Nizwa

Breakfast at the hotel. Meet your driver. Full day to discover the capital of the Sultanate. The tour begins at Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque: it has been inaugurated in 2001 to celebrate thirty years of the Sultan's reign and it can host over 20,000 worshippers. The building is a true masterpiece of modern architecture, harmoniously combining various artistic currents of the Islamic world, from Maghreb to Central Asia. Later continue to the historic area of Mutrah and stroll through the alleys of the Souq and along the Corniche, admiring the Portuguese colonial houses. Lunch. In the afternoon visit the National Museum of Oman: the museum has opened to the public in 2016 and houses 12,500 artifacts telling the historical, archaeological, and cultural background of the country. Then photo stop at the Sultan's Palace (Al Alam Palace) and the Portuguese Forts of Jalali and Mirani. Transfer to Nizwa. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

    DAY 3

Nizwa – Jebel Shams – Al Hamra – Nizwa

Breakfast at the hotel. Early morning live the authentic Omani atmosphere in Nizwa, capital during the Yaroubi dynasty and still an important cultural and religious center, known as the Pearl of Islam. Visit the Souq, which comes alive every Friday thanks to the traditional animal market, and the Fort, with its massive watchtower offering beautiful views on the Friday Mosque and on the date plantations surrounding the town. Continue to the Grand Canyon of Arabia, a breathtaking gorge about 1000 meters deep at the foot of Jebel Shams, the highest peak in Oman. Lunch. In the afternoon, visit Al Hamra village and an old mud house, today a museum, to learn about traditional cooking, ancient medicine, and typical handicraft. Back to Nizwa. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

    DAY 4

Nizwa – Wadi Bani Khalid – Wahiba Sands

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Wadi Bani Khalid, a spectacular oasis of palm trees and natural pools nestled among the colorful rock formations of the Eastern Hajar Mountains. Free time to swim and relax. Lunch. In the afternoon, leave the paved road behind and enter the dunes of Wahiba Sands, the second largest desert in Oman, with an area of over 12,000 square kilometers. Sunset on the dunes. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

    DAY 5

Wahiba Sands – Al Ashkhara – Ras Al Kabbah – Ras Al Hadd

Breakfast at the camp and start crossing Wahiba Sands: an authentic and exciting experience in the desert until the coast, through ever-changing landscapes in a succession of dunes, acacias, and Bedouin tents. Drive north along Sharqiya wild coast. Lunch. In the afternoon photo stops along the way in Al Ashkhara and Ras Al Kabbah to admire cliffs, salt flats and remote beaches. Continue to the long beach of Ras Al Hadd, at the eastern end of the Arabian Peninsula, where sea turtles lay their eggs from May to November. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

    DAY 6

Ras Al Hadd – Sur – Fins – Bimah Sinkhole – Muscat

Breakfast at the lodge. Spend the morning in the nice town of Sur and visit the traditional shipyard for dhows, the typical Omani boats. Lunch. In the afternoon, photo stops at Fins Beach and Bimah Sinkhole, a crater carved in the rock and filled with crystal clear water. Arrive in Muscat. Overnight at the hotel.
